Research Interests

Research in building science and technology directed toward energy efficiency and indoor environmental quality of buildings. Energy-use patterns and environmental quality are undeniably related. The relationship between them contains great opportunities to improve the built environment and preserve energy and natural resources. Examples of current research interest areas:

  • Active and passive ventilation in relation to energy use and IAQ.

  • Active and passive methods in controlling thermal loads in buildings.

  • Extending the scope of natural lighting into building.

  • Acoustics in architecture.

  • Field assessment of high performance buildings (measurement and verification).

Scientific interests

Working with student on exercises on the integration of passive and active technologies into buildings that may aid in improving building performance, such as; reducing energy use, improving indoor environment quality, better occupant behavior, and preserving natural resources and offsetting the carbon footprint. in addition to buildings IEQ and performance in relation to heritage and conservation of historical buildings.
